Karaku X Alaya “Nasuno Yoichi” Aloha Shirt
KaraKu, in collaboration with Japanese painter Alaya, presents an art collection themed around the “vitality of life.” Colorful fish motifs are translated into shirts and T-shirts, achieving a seamless fusion of art and fashion.
A large central fish dominates the composition, surrounded by waves, ukiyo-e-inspired warriors, and boats. Although a still image, the arrangement creates a strong sense of movement and flow within the scene.
The digital print reproduces the granular texture of traditional Japanese mineral pigments (iwa-enogu), giving the surface a painterly depth. Gold-like splashes scattered across the fish scales and background add a tactile, dimensional quality on the flat fabric.
The gradient of the fish scales—from blue to purple to yellow—goes beyond simple color blocking, expressing the reflection of light underwater and symbolizing the brilliance of life itself.
